Ghadeer e Khumm - غدير خم
On the 18th of Zilhijja at Ghadeer-e-Khumm, Rasullulah SA made compulsory (farizat) the walayat of Ameer-ul-Mumineen Ali ibn Abi Talib AS, which he announced to the more than 70,000 muslimeen gathered there. He said, “walayat is the most important pillar of Islam, the spiritual ‘soul’ in the corporeal ‘body’ of religious practice.” Fatemi Madrasa is pleased to present the Quran ayats and their translations which were revealed on the day of Ghadeer-e-Khumm, and a few of the hadiths and their translations from Mohammed Rasulullah’s SA mubarak khutba
اْية
" يَا اَيُّهَا الرَّسُولُ بَلِّغْ مَا اُنْزِلَ اِلَيْكَ مِن رَّبِّكَ وَإِن لَّمْ تَفْعَلْ فَمَا بَلَّغْتَ رِسَالَتَهُ وَ اللهُ يَعْصِمُكَ مِنَ النَّاسِ "
[ Surat 5: Aayat 67]
Translation
On the day of 18th Zilhajja, at the place called Ghadeer-e-Khumm, Jibraeel brought the following Ayat: O Messenger, convey what has been sent down to you from your Lord. If you do not, then you shall not have conveyed any of His messages. Allah shall protect you from the people.
حديث
"اَلَستُ اَولى بِكُم مِن اَنفُسِكُم؟ قَالُوا بَلى يَا رَسُولَ الله. قَالَ فَمَن كُنْتُ مَولاَ هُ فَهْذا عَلِيٌّ مَولاَهُ، اَللَّهُمَّ وَالِ مَن وَالاَهُ وَعَادِ مَن عَادَاهُ وَانْصُر مَن نَصَرَه وَ اخْذُل مَن خَذَلَه وَ َادِرِالحَقَّ مَعَهُ حَيْثُ دَارَ"
[Rasulullah SA Hadith]
Translation
After Jibraeel brought the above ayat, Rasullullah SA ascended on the pulpit taking Moulana Ali AS with him, and declared to the 70,000 muslimeen gathered there: “Am I not your Maula?” They all replied, “Yes truly you are our Maula, O Rasullullah!” Rasullullah SA continued, “For whomsoever I am Maula, Ali is now his Maula. O Allah! Love those who love Ali, and be the enemy of those who are enemies of Ali, help those who help Ali, and forsake those who forsake Ali. Keep the Truth with Ali wherever he goes.”
حديث
"اِنِّي تَارِكٌ فِيْكُمُ الثَّقَلَينِ كِتَابَ اللهِ وَ عِتْرَتِي مَا اِن تَمَسَّكْتُم بِهِمَا لَن تَضِلُّوا، وَ اِنَّهُمَا لَن يَفتَرِقَا حَتّى يَرِدَا عَلَيَّ الحَوَضَ كَهَاتَينِ"
[Rasulullah SA Hadith]
Translation
Rasullullah SA also said: I leave among you two valuable things: the Book of Allah and my Ahle Bayt. If you hold on to them firmly, you will not go astray. They will not be separated from each other until they meet me together at the Fountain of Quasar.
اْية
" اَليَومَ اَكْمَلْتُ لَكُم دِيْنَكُم وَ اَتْمَمْتُ عَلَيكُم نِعْمَتِي وَ رَضِيْتُ لَكُمُ الاِسْلاَمَ دِينَا "
[ Surat 5: Aayat 3]
Translation
And then Jibraeel brought this aayat: Today, I have perfected your religion for you, completed my blessings upon you, and have chosen Islam as a religion for you.
